STEREOTYPES OF GENDER IN COLOMBIA AND MEXICO
Colombia and Mexico are two countries in America that have many similarities and differences. One of the many similarities between Colombia and Mexico is the use of stereotypes. The establishment of some stereotypes significantly increases gender inequality. These inequalities produce difficulties in various fields, such as education, health, economics and politics. In Colombia, women earn less than men, there is a wage gap that shares with the Mexican country and is based on the stereotype that women can not do the same things as men. Other similarities between Colombia and Mexico are the stereotypes that exist about the role of the female gender. This role implies the meaning of women as housewives, mothers or figures who need protection. Finally among the differences found is the stereotype of man as a figure of power. The multiple investigations conducted in Mexico showed that there is a general tendency in the country about men as a figure of power superior to women, who acquire a lower role for society
